PORT DE PORTO POLO - JEAN BAPTISTE TOMI
PORTO-POLLO port is the old "scalo? of the TARAVU, safe from West winds, called on the XVIth century maps : "Porti-Pulo", attended by merchant ships, and sailboats doing coastal traffic around the island. Currently the cove is occupied by a marina. At the beginning ? fishermen shelter ?, the port is opened to pleasure boats ( capacity of approximately 100 places). The first dock always at belong to the fishermen. Porto Pollo bay safe from west and North winds is a very good shelter when Mistral blows. From the summer of 2005 organized anchorages , managed by the city of SERRA DI FERO, embellish the bay . A hundred moorings are installed and can recive boats until 15m (red rubber rings) and 20m (white rubber rings). These organized moorings only exist for the moment on the beaches of PORTO POLLO and Taravo. Floating containers are also placed on the two above mentioned beaches and are raised every day.
