"A NOTTE DI A MEMORIA" THE RELEASE OF THE GOVERNOR

Pageant depicting the arrival of the new governor to Bastia, capital of the Kingdom of Corsica, it is hosted in the Vieux Port by his predecessor. The procession heads from Terra Vecchia to Terra-Nova, with characters dressed in historical costumes wandering through the streets, entertaining spectators with a variety of tableaux vivants. Dancers, musicians, actors, archers, fencers, troubadours, flag-throwers and other historical characters provide further excitement for the watching galleries who are taken back in time on this magical day. As part of the event, a number of the city's monuments are illuminated, including the spectacular ceremonial burning of the citadel.
