EASTER HOLIDAYS: LA GRANITOLA CALVI

The members of the two Confréries of Saint Antoine and Saint Erasme, hooded and barefooted penitents, march in a procession through the city and within the citadel walls. Mingling with the population, all reflect in song and prayer, making a movement similar to shape of a snail. In this way the Granitola, a symbolic penance procession that moves like a spiral, coiling and uncoiling itself, is repeated at different points along the way.
