MEDITERRANEAN MUSICAL MEETINGS

A musical week in the heart of the Mediterranean! As part of the twenty-fifth edition of the "Rencontres Musicales de Méditerranée", the Association des Jeunesses Musicales de Méditerranée is offering island audiences throughout Corsica a week of music of the highest artistic quality. Nearly 200 performers and musical personalities representing the leading conservatoires, institutes and national music schools in the major capitals of the Mediterranean region - notably Egypt, Spain, Italy, France, Tunisia and Portugal - are joining forces with Corsican artists for a week of musical sharing across the island. All the concerts organised by the association are free. Reaching out to young people remains a priority for the Rencontres Musicales de Méditerranée. Throughout the week, educational concerts are offered to Corsican schoolchildren in primary schools, collèges, lycées and universities. Under the guidance of their music education teachers, the youngsters are introduced to the instrumental and musical practices of the guest countries. It's an opportunity for fruitful exchanges between pupils and musicians. At the same time, a large number of concerts are given for the general public, in venues as diverse as theatres, concert halls, churches, cultural centres and the streets and squares of our villages. From North to South, East to West, we bring music from near and far to the ears and ears of as many people as possible. The high point of the Rencontres is the Gala evening, which brings the week's festivities to a close on Saturday evening at Bastia's Théâtre Municipal. The closing concert of the Rencontres is a unique event. It brings together 150 talented musicians in a symphony orchestra for an exceptional musical performance. It accompanies the final song in Corsican, performed each year by a Corsican artist.
