SPANISH AND LATIN AMERICAN CINEMA FESTIVAL

27/03/2026 au 01/04/2026    13/03/2022 au 19/03/2022

This annual event offers Corsican audiences a varied selection of films that have won over Spanish-speaking audiences. Most of these films are young and talented, and have always been well received by audiences. In addition to the screenings, leading figures from the academic and cinematographic worlds will be giving talks to help people discover and understand this cinematographic art. There will also be cinema-related activities (shows, dance, theatre, music, photo exhibitions, etc.). For more than 20 years, Latinità has been offering a selection of previews and previously unreleased films, as well as first films and films d'auteur in a wide variety of genres to suit all audiences. Guests, tributes, partnerships and the support of loyal partners create a convivial and festive space. The 28th edition of the Spanish and Latin American Film Festival will take festival-goers into 'real' cinemas: from 27 to 29 March, we'll be at the Ellipse, and from 30 March to 1 April, we'll be at the Laetitia cinema. Even though the programme we've put together is more limited in terms of the number of films, with just one Latin American film, the fact remains that they've been chosen with great care. We'll be offering our viewers a panorama of Spain's vibrant film production, which includes a number of films that have won awards at the most prestigious festivals, such as Oliver Laxe's 'Sirat', which won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for the 2026 Oscars in the Best International Film and Best Sound categories... Over the last few years, Spanish cinema has been enjoying great vitality, and women are playing an increasingly important role as talented directors (5 out of 10 films in our programme), most often portraying plural and touching female protagonists in intimate, family and social situations... We'll also be paying tribute, along with his friend Jean-Pierre Matteï, to the great poster artist Michel Landi, creator of 3 of our Festival posters. Because of our training as teachers, we are reserving a selection of films for schoolchildren, because as well as studying the Spanish language (the 2nd most studied foreign language after English in Corsica), we want to make the most of what is familiar to them: the world of images. We are convinced that the pedagogical orientation of this work on images helps pupils to be better prepared to learn the language and develops their critical faculties. There will also be time for relaxation, with a demonstration of Latin dances by the Artistella group, and for discovery, with the participation of a young Ecuadorian on a civic mission in Ajaccio as part of an agreement between France Volontaires, the CDC, the Lycée Laetitia and the Latinità association, as well as time for sharing over a glass of sangría and a plate of tapas, as is the tradition. Let us take you to the cinema! ¡ Buen festival a todos!
